Madidi Titi (Callicebus aureipalatii )
MORPHOLOGY:
The dental formula is 2:1:3:3 on both the upper and lower jaws (Ankel-Simons, 2000). The tail of the Madidi titi is not prehensile. The Madidi titi has an agouti body coloration that is orange ventrally (Wallace et al., 2006). The crown is golden, and the throat is deep orange (Wallace et al., 2006). The forehead is dark with a slightly less golden coloration as compared to the crown (Wallace et al., 2006). Deep orange burgundy is found on the limbs from the knees and elbows to the hands and feet (Wallace et al., 2006). The tail is dark with a clear paler whitish tip (Wallace et al., 2006).
RANGE:
The Madidi titi is found in the country of Bolivia, on the western side of the Rio Beni (Wallace et al., 2006). This species lives in lowland plain forests of the Rio Tuichi and Rio Hondo valleys and the Alto Madidi lowlands, and it has been located living in piedmont or foothill forests around Rio Tuichi, Rio Hondo, Alto Madidi, and Rio Undumo (Wallace et al., 2006).
ECOLOGY:
The Madidi titi is a diurnal and an arboreal species. The mean group size is three individuals (Wallace et al., 2006).
